Non-residents & diaspora

Starting a business in Morocco as a foreign founder

For foreign investors and Moroccans living abroad, incorporation is possible and increasingly digital — but a few points need specific preparation.

Short answer

Can a foreigner own 100% of a company in Morocco?

Yes. For most activities a foreign individual or company can be the sole shareholder of an SARL. Certain regulated sectors have their own rules.

What changes for non-residents

  • ID documents, and for corporate shareholders translated and legalised or apostilled documents depending on the country
  • Organising signatures (power of attorney, e-signature where available)
  • Opening the bank account: each bank sets its own requirements
  • Foreign-exchange regulation: conditions for bringing funds in and repatriating the investment (Office des Changes)
  • The manager's status and, if living in Morocco, their residence situation
